About Me

My photo
Roseau, Dominica
I love nails and everything nails. This blog will be mostly about nails but I will through in some of my other creative abilities as well. I am from the nature island of the Caribbean Dominica. I live in the city Roseau. I developed and interest in nails since about 12 or maybe even before and I have been into it ever since. I must confess that I took a long break from it for reasons I have no idea. I think I just got lazy for a bit and this is a huge regret I have. But I'll make up for it.

AIS: Un-Girly Nails

It's Sunday again!!!!

And we stamp on Sundays.

Today, we're doing and un-girly mani. Who would a thought there was something un-girly about nail design. Hmmmmmm

The most un-girly thing I could think about was sports. Now I know girls take part in sports, but most girly, girly (if you know what I mean) girls don't take part in sports and stay far from it especially those trying to not break a nail.

Now I don't know much about golf. We don't have golf here but to me it looks boring. Maybe it's because I don't understand what's going on. I don't know.

So this is what I came up with. Found these golf clubs (that's what they're called right?) on one of my Cheeky plates from last year's summer collection.

I would not leave the house wearing this combo at all so that's why I consider it to be un-girly.

33 Day Challenge Day 4 - Tribal

Hey Guys

Today we're going tribal.

I have never done tribal nails so this is really a challenge.

I did not know where to start with this one at all. My design was inspired by noting and no one. I googled tribal patterns to have an idea of what it should look like and then I just picked up a couple of polishes and brushes and said lets see what we come up with. I was planning the design while I was doing it. Had no pattern in mind.

All in all I think for my first time it's not to bad. At least it looks tribal.

My husband did not know what I was doing and he ask me if I'm doing tribal nails. I was like how did you know and so I figure I must be on the right track.

Where in the World Challenge - USA

Hi Hi

When I started this blog it was to help me commit to things I start. I started the Where In The World Challenge with some cool gals and stopped at No. 5. Now there are 25 countries to depict. Five out of 25 hmmmmmm na I have to finish.

So today I am continuing. I don't get the impression that many people have continued and I see a few are still at it so kudos to them. When I was doing it months ago I really enjoyed it and it was also a history lesson because I learnt quite a bit about the country which I was doing the design about.

No. 6 is the U S A.

The rose is the national flower of the United States and that's what I went with for the challenge. The rose was chosen to be the country's national floral symbol because, according to president Regan, (in summary) it the flower which is given the most and is the most loved. Which is true all over the world.

Now I have tried drawing a rose before and failed and since I did not have a stamp of one to save me, I had to try again. I discovered this cool tutorial from The Nailasaurus and was saved. Her's looks a million times better of course.

Thanks for checking me out. Check out the other gals.

33 Day Challenge Day 3 - Tape Mani

Hi again

Its day three of the challenge.
The tape mani. hmmmmmmmmmmm

I tend to have a love hate relationship with the technique. I really like how its looks but doing it is such a task though. The trick is to remove the tape as soon as you apply the polish. If it stays for even a few seconds, you most likely will end up with a smudged design.

I was taking out the tape one at a time and fighting to get it off my other hand and in the mean time the polish was drying. So I took out all (not at the same time) and then worked on getting it off the other had and that made it less stressful. (Not sure if this is clear)

So for this mani I simply used my Kleancolor Cobalt. I've wanted to use this for so long and finally got the chance.

My mani was inspired by The Nailasaurus but it's not exactly the same.

All in all I think I'm somewhat satisfied.

Somewhat.

Thanks for checking me out.

33 Day Challenge Day 2 - Your Most Used Colour Polish

Heloooo all

This is my second mani in this challenge. As I said before, I'm late and I'm trying to catch up.

The polish I use the most is Jewellery red from Santee. It's almost always on my toes. I just love looking down at it.

The photo does not do it justice though. I usually wear it plain but whenever I have to add to it, it's always some sort of gold glitter. Today I only did a strip of large gold (hexagon shapped) glitter down the middle. Should have left it alone.

I love this color so much that I usually by 2 bottles at a time.

Thanks for popping in.

33 Day Challenge Day 1 - Dots

Hi Hi

Crumpet Nails Tarts (Facebook Group) has a new challenge called the 33 Day Challenge and although I'm late, I thought I'd join cuz I really love challenges. They keep me committed to this blog.

Day 1 - Dots. Probably the easiest thing to do in Nail art, with anything from a dotting tool, tooth pick, Pencil eraser, bottom of an eye pencil etc. However,  I'm stamping. I thought it was a good technique to start with though.

I found out about the challenge on Tuesday evening and did the mani but then my camera was not functioning and I had to use another on Wednesday so the mani is stale and the photo is poor :(.

I used my a stamping plate from Cheeky's summer 2012 collection #48. My base colour, Avon's Speed Dry+ Lime Splatter. I also filled in some of the dots with the lime splatter but I think it was better without the green dots but no time to do over.

Heels, Heels, Heels

Hey Guys

Today my mani is all heels.

I loooooove high heels.

I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove shoes. Who doesn't anyway.

I haven't won heels in months and I still haven't started wearing them post baby and have no idea when I'll resume, Baby, heels and our rugged roads just don't add up.

I came across two images on my cheeky plates which were shoes so I thought "If I can't wear them on my feet, I might as well wear them on my nails."

I could have gone more colourful with this but I wanted to try out one of my Avon suede  polishes I bought a couple months ago. I bought a few and paid a hilarious price (for me anyway) Can't believe I spent that much on a few bottles of polish but thank God I'm not alone in this spending on nails business.

I used Avon Suede Nail Enamel - Touch of Taupe and tamped with Konad white.

The suede polish is similar to a matte polish. Top coat would not be required if you wore it alone.

However, I did stamp my shoe designs over it so I had to apply top coat. I used my Konad top coat because I wanted to wear this for longer than a day. Also I did not want the top coat to ruin this one. The Konad also dries really fast.

Thanks for checking me out.

AIS: Glitzy Glam Nails

Its Sunday

And the Facebook Group Adventures in Stamping, stamp on Sundays.

So I've decided to give it a try once again since it's been sooooooo long since I've posted to this group. Today we're doing Glitzy Glam Nails. So lets bring out the glitters.

I always struggle with glitter polish and stamping so I try not to mix the two. But hey. Its a challenge I'm gonna take.

I'm  going with a black base and gold glitter. The glitter is mixed, with small strips, hexagons (large and small) and small glitter dust. Its a a lot going on in one bottle of polish so I've chosen a stamping image for just the nail tip. I think if I do a full image the whole thing will look messy or to busy.

It ain't to shabby.

Thanks for stopping by.

Making a comeback

Hey Guys

I'm returning to the world of blogging after a nine month hiatus. I've really missed doing this and checking up on what everyone has been up to. I haven't been able to for so long.

So what's up with me? Well I have a 7 week old baby girl. She's the splitting image of me. I'm so happy. She's the reason I was to tired and constantly sleepy and could not do my nails for nine months. But we're all settled in, I'm getting the hang of being a mom. And just giving so much love to this new person. It's incredible.

Sooooo... I wanted to do a mani in honour of my newborn. I could not find a stamping plate in my limited collection with anything of a baby so I decided to go with lovely-girl, using two different plates. (I almost gave away all my polishes, and nails stuff cuz I thought-hey I'm not using them! I'd probably be pulling my hair out now cuz I'm so ready to use them). And since there are so many new stamping plates out, guess I have some shopping to do. Hmmmmm.

I'm using Konad plate M59 and an XL plate from lightinthebox.com. Though the XL plate has both images, the "lovely" image is bigger on the Konad plate.

The top coat kinda smudged it a bit. I have a konad topcoat which keeps you designs in place but I don't use it often especially not on manis that I won't keep on for long. Ordering polish for me is such a hassle and so much paper work that I have to make what I order last for as long as possible.
